Thinking about Counselling in 2024?

Even though we are only into the first few weeks of the new year, I keep hearing or seeing online the phrase 'A new year, a new you' with the idea or suggestion for fresh beginnings and change.

To implement new year resolutions, ditch the booze for dry January, stop smoking or vaping, exercise regularly, and become more focused on our diet and finances after the excess from the month of December. I believe we tend to focus our attention on our physical well-being, but what about our mental health?

Is there anything you wish to change within yourself—a new mindset? or turning negative thoughts you might have about yourself or your current situation into more positive ones?

Is there something you want to work towards or achieve as a personal goal? Improve your connection with others at home, within the workplace, or in your friendship circle. Or become more autonomous in your decision-making or your life choices?

Perhaps now is the right time for you and your partner to access couples counselling. To collaboratively seek answers to the questions surrounding your relationship.

2024 is possibly the year to make that new transition?

Or maybe you're feeling content and satisfied within yourself, so the original phrase doesn't apply to you, but you wish to talk to somebody openly without the fear of judgement in a safe and warm environment.

Then this is something Southampton Counselling Practice can try to do to help, guide, and support your own unique circumstances. Our qualified counsellors and psychotherapists are here six days a week, Monday through Saturday, to work alongside you. We offer a variety of different types of sessions.

You can see our friendly team and their profiles on this link.

If you don't feel as if you have enough hours in the day, then that is not a problem, as our therapist can arrange a telephone or virtual session on a date and time that is suitable for your work or childcare needs.

Want to attend counselling but prefer a service where physical and verbal communication aren't a requirement? We respect your decision, as many of our counsellors can facilitate web-based chat sessions.

Or maybe you would like to be in the same room as your therapist? If you prefer to talk face-to-face, then you are more than welcome to attend your session at our office at Ocean Village in Southampton, which hosts car parking and easy access to and from local public transport links.

We strongly believe that therapy should be accessible to everyone and not defined by someone's socio-economic background. (Concession rates can be applied; just email us to find out more details.)

If attending therapy might be of interest to you, please send us an email or complete the 'Contact Us' section. One of our counsellors will get back in contact with you to arrange a 20-minute free consultation. This gives the client the chance to share aspects of their life if they wish to provide further details or ask the counsellor any questions they may have.

You'll then be matched with a therapist who has the most experience and knowledge surrounding the presenting issues and factors you wish to cover during your sessions.

From myself and everybody at Southampton Counselling Practice, we wish you all the very best for the year ahead.
