Hello everyone,
Chloe Renault MBACP is one of our Person-Centred counsellors here at the Empathy Project in Southampton. Chloe has four years of experience, having begun work as a counsellor during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chloe is a warm, down to earth person who is easy to get on with and talk to. Chloe always listens well, and tries to make a safe space for her clients to be able to talk openly and freely in confidence.
We've recently updated Chloe's profile on our website, here's some of what she has to say:
"My name is Chloe and I am a qualified person-centred counsellor. I am based in Southampton in the UK and offer my sessions online, by phone and face to face. My sessions are for adults aged 18+. I am a warm, gentle and kind person who is softly spoken and welcoming.
Â
Before becoming a counsellor myself, I had counselling sessions to help me in my own life and so I understand how scary it is to make the first step, but also how beneficial it can be and how important it is having a safe, confidential and accepting place to go."
How can Chloe help?
"Sometimes beginning your counselling journey can feel difficult talking about things from your past or present day that are causing you distress but you may notice that talking about these can help you to grow and change as a person and to understand yourself better which in turn may help you to feel better too.
Â
Some people find that talking can really help them get things off their mind and can feel like a weight is being lifted. Talking to a counsellor or someone who doesn’t know you can often be helpful as you don’t need to hold anything back. I am here to listen and support you in whatever you might be facing and hopefully together we can find a way forward."
What is it like to have therapy sessions with Chloe?
"In our sessions I allow you the space to explore whatever may be on your mind at your own pace. I am there to listen, without judgement, and may offer suggestions if I think they may be helpful.
Â
I don't give advice as we are all different and what may help one person may not necessarily help you. I may ask questions to clarify information, however I don’t tend to ask questions in the sessions as I allow you to talk about what is on your mind freely and openly. As I believe you are the expert on yourself, you are in control of the sessions, in terms of what you want to talk about and what pace you go. Sessions are confidential and held in a safe environment."
