Happy New Year! Thinking about counselling in 2025?

Dear all,

The period of time around Christmas and the New Year can bring up a great deal of different emotions, some positive but also some negative.

The New Year can be a time of renewal, but it can also feel daunting. Many people consider setting New Year's resolutions or goals for the year ahead in 2025. Often, trying to improve our mental health and going to counselling can be one of these.

Window in January

January is also the coldest, darkest and wettest month of the year in the UK. People are often broke after the expense of Christmas presents and socialising, and finances can compound our stresses and anxieties. It can also make going to counselling even more difficult, both in struggling to pay for it but also finding the energy or motivation.

Meanwhile, free counselling services such as on the NHS often become overwhelmed, as this is also the busiest time of year for the mental health sector. This can make accessing the right support even harder.

At the Empathy Project, we've tried to create an alternative that makes therapy accessible and affordable, without waiting lists or a fixed number of sessions. We offer free 20 minute consultations so we can answer any questions you have and match you to the right therapist for you.

We're based in Southampton but we also work over the telephone and online. Our current processing time for new referrals is three working days. Generally we are able to schedule a client's first counselling session within two weeks of their initial consultation.

To get started, just complete our short online referral form using the button below!

Best wishes,

The Empathy Project
