Our Mission

To serve our community by providing open-ended, high-quality counselling and psychotherapy.

To relieve pressure on the NHS and other services by providing a low-cost, self-paying alternative that is accessible and affordable.

To reinvest 100% of profits we make into our Community Fund, from where we will offer discounted or free therapy to those in serious financial difficulty.

To make The Empathy Project a great place for therapists to work, paying a proper wage and being committed to ethical best practice.

We do one thing:
counselling.

We do it as well as we can.

And we do it forever.

We are a small team of independent counsellors and psychotherapists, working together to help everyone we can.

Based in Southampton, UK, we also provide online counselling to our clients anywhere in the world.

We originally began as a private practice in 2023, but made the decision to become a non-profit Community Interest Company in 2024. By law, 100% of our profits must be reinvested for the good of the community, which you can read about here.

We do not receive any public funding and are fully independent. All of our therapists are Registered Members of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, and are trained and experienced to a very high standard. We are completely financially self-sustaining
